Dear Flintville School Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. As we continue to support our students in their athletic endeavors, we would like to take a moment to address an important aspect of our school community: behavior at athletic events.
Athletic events are not only a time for our students to showcase their skills and hard work, but they also provide an opportunity for our community to come together in support of our athletes. It is essential that we model positive behavior and sportsmanship, as our actions set an example for our students and younger community members.
Flintville School is a member of TSSAA (Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association) Middle School Division. Article III, Section 9 of the TSSAA Bylaws states the following:
For fans ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct during a contest, the school will be fined a minimum of $250.00. In addition, other non-monetary disciplinary action may occur, including but not limited to probation and/or restrictive probation for the entire athletic program.
As a member school of TSSAA we would like to stress to our coaches, players, and fans the necessity of good sportsmanship. People in each of these groups must understand the role they play and how important it is to be a positive role model for others. We appreciate your cooperation and support in making our athletic events enjoyable and respectful for everyone. Together, we can create a positive environment that best reflects the values of our school community.
We also want to remind parents and family members that our minor students should not be unaccompanied at games and should be monitored during the events. Parents are responsible for their children's behavior and safety during athletic events. To keep athletes and spectators safe, students should not run freely in the gym and concession area during games. Before attending games, you may want to discuss the behavior you expect from your child. Emphasize the importance of respect for players, officials, and other spectators. Encourage your child to participate in cheering for the team and show enthusiasm in a positive way. This can help keep them focused and engaged. Keep an eye on your child during the game. If you notice any inappropriate behavior, address it calmly and promptly. Praise your child for good behavior and respectful engagement throughout the game. Positive reinforcement can encourage continued good conduct. Encourage your child to support their peers and appreciate the efforts of all players, regardless of the outcome of the game. By actively monitoring and guiding your child's behavior as a spectator, you can help create a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your ongoing support of our student-athletes.
Best Regards,
Flintville School Administration
