Meet Dr. David Golden
I am a Flintville native and attended Flintville Elementary and Flintville Junior High from kindergarten through the ninth grade. I attended Lincoln County High School and graduated in 1993. I played on the 1990 state championship and was All Mid-State and was a member of the Tennessee All Star Team. After high school, I played and lettered all four years in football at Maryville College where I majored in English for Teacher Licensure. After graduating, I coached football at Maryville College before beginning my teaching career.
I taught 7th and 8th grade English at Montvale Middle School in Maryville, Tennessee in the spring of 1997. From there, I taught 10-12 Special Education at Lincoln County High School during the 1998-1999 school year. From 1999-2003, I taught 9-11 Honors English at Heritage High School in Maryville, TN. During the 2003-2004 school year, I taught Senior English at Sycamore High School in Cheatham County, Tennessee. From 2004-2010, I taught 9th grade Honors and Regular English at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama. During the spring semester of 2011, I began my Principalship at Flintville Elementary School.
During my career as a teacher, I helped organize the first ever Appalachian Project at Heritage High School. Also, I helped do the research and lay the groundwork for the Heritage High School Ninth Grade Academy and Hazel Green High School Ninth Grade Academy. I was also certified to teach Advanced Placement in 9-12 English. I later used this research to create and serve as Lead Teacher for the Hazel Green High School Freshman Academy.
I have been married to my beautiful wife, Trace, for 23 years. She currently works as the Social Worker for the Lincoln County Department of Education. We have two great boys, Dylan (26) and Jaxson (22). Dylan graduated from Pellissippi State Community College last year, is married to his wife Kyla and together they have our granddaughter Delilah. Jaxson is enrolled at Motlow State Community College where he is majoring in Communications.
I completed my Master's Degree from Tennessee State University in 2005, and I completed my Doctorate Degree from East Tennessee State University in December of 2016.
I am humbled and honored to serve as Principal of my home school, Flintville School.
