Meet Mrs. Northcutt:
Communication, education, motivation: these three words have described the meaning of life for me. At a very young age, I dreamed of being a teacher. However, I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations and began a career in mass media instead. I started out communicating with the public through radio, television, newspapers, magazines or brochures. Since that time, I have worked in public relations agencies and advertising agencies as Director of Public Relations. My most recent communications job was Public Information Officer at Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.
However, the dream of being a teacher would not die. I went back to school a few years ago and earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching K-6 and certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I started my teaching career by teaching English to second language adults in Bedford County. Now I teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to English Language Learners at Flintville, South Lincoln and Lincoln County High School. I am excited to help students achieve their dreams by ensuring that they are proficient in the English language so that they can be successful in their classes. My students make this the best job I’ve ever had!
